Can I enter old photographs?
Yes you can, just as long as they were taken in the six Arid Parks.
Can I enter pictures from anywhere in South Africa?
No, all photographs have to be taken in one, or all, of the six Arid Parks, all of which are South African National Parks located in South Africa’s Northern Cape.
Where are these Arid Parks?
All six of the Arid Parks are in South Africa’s Northern Cape province. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park crosses the border into Botswana and the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park crosses into Namibia.
How many photos can I enter?
You can now enter 6 photographs in each category, with 10 categories, you can enter up to 59 photos per round, with 4 rounds, that’s anything up to 236 photos.
Can I enter every round?
Yes, you can enter photographs in every round, there are 4 rounds.
Is there a minimum number of photos I can enter?
No, you can enter as much or as little as you want. If you only have 1 photo to enter, please enter it!
What happens if I win?
The winners’ will not only receive prizes from Nikon, SANParks, Hi-Tec and Tourism Blueprint, but the photos and stories will also appear on this website, in the pages of an up market Coffee-Table Book and on posters that will be displayed on a nation-wide tour. The final prize giving will include a black-tie dinner and live music gala under a star spangled sky and amid the dramatic dunes of the Kgalagadi Desert.
How do I enter?
You register on this site, and you submit your photos in the various categories. Alternatively, if you are struggling with this, you can e-mail the pictures to us at feedback@capturedexperiences.com. Or if you prefer, you can post us a CD with your pictures on to The Tourism Blueprint, P.O Box 645, Milnerton, Cape Town, 7435. Please have all the relevant information attached.
I am just an amateur photographer, should I still enter?
Yes, please do! This competition is for anyone with beautiful photos of the Arid Parks.
Do I still win my prize if I can’t attend the final gala?
Yes, if you have a winning photograph the prize is yours regardless of whether you can attend the gala or not.
Who is judging the competition?
A panel of judges consisting of both photographic and Arid Park experts, will evaluate all eligible entries in each Category, based on a 30 point system: 10 points - Relevance to the Category, the Park and the story submitted with the photograph, 10 points - The Creativity shown in taking the photograph, 10 points - Technical excellence and photographic quality.
What is the copyright status with regard to images submitted? Who has licence to use them?
SANParks and Tourism Blueprint (the publisher of the book) will be able to make use of your submitted photo's for marketing purposes but will not be able to pass them on or re-sell them to any one else or use them in a different context to that specified.
